One thing hypnotists keep in mind is to be on the look out for ways to enhance the trance experience for their trance partners. Some folks miss out on so much by ignoring the classics such as suggestibility effects.
There’s an old suggestibility effect which quite a few hypnotists don’t even attempt for fear of failure which can be wonderful for enhancing experiences (unfortunately, that’s the case for a lot of folks who just don’t have the confidence to unflinchingly use these classic wonderful effects in powerful ways – see my Core Hypnosis Skills DVD set and the Speed Hypnosis Techniques DVD set for comprehensive instruction and examples on the use of suggestibility effects as hypnosis inductions and more, slip over to the shop at http://www.briandavidphillips.net/store for more).
The old "hand shaking" suggestibility effect is great for entertainment hypnosis and can be done from a complete waking state with no previous formal induction or used within the context of an already engaged hypnotic session. It’s funny and entertaining in its own right but the real beauty of the thing is that you can attach positive emotional states into the response. Once you set the suggestion that the hands will move of their own volition, you can then set it up so that the more the involuntary movement the better or happier the person feels. Here’s a brief example of such a setup from one of my shows (this is a bilingual show so you can hear Lorraine interpreting into Chinese as the suggestion patter flows and note that language barriers are not barriers to hypnotic responsiveness).
Of course, if you can attach "happy" feelings, then you can attach "any" positive emotions you like (I suppose you could attach negative ones too but I would strongly suggest NOT doing anything as unethical as that). Here’s an example from one of my adult oriented shows where I take the same construct and attach, not just happy feelings but positive sexual emotional intensification . . . basically, instead of feeling "happy" or "better" for this bit, they feel horny and hornier.
This bit can be a lot of fun and it’s a simple adaptation of a very straightforward classic suggestibility effect and adding in a way for the trance partner to have an enhanced experience. Of course, this can also be adapted to use in therapy and the like.
