adultery could mean life imprisonment

Well, ain’t that interesting? Michagan may have a problem . . . adultery could mean life, court finds . . . in Michigan, adultery is on the books as a felony and anyone who engages in sexual intercourse while in the commission of another felony can be charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct which can carry a life sentence. Since adultery is technically a felony, then the adulterous sex is CSC . . . this is in spite of consent.

The funny part of this is that the Attorney General who pushed for the CSC ruling admitted to committing adultery and so would be open to prosecution . . . albeit, anyone getting prosecuted on this is unlikely . . . but the literal interpretation of the law demands it . . . Michigan is one of the few states where judges must interpret law literally even if the result would be absurd (in many states judges are given “absurdity” leeway but the Michigan Supreme Court insists upon literal interpretation so that any change in the law goes to the legislature not the court.

I know a whole bunch of folks who probably best steer clear of Michigan for awhile.
