I received my copy of the Tantric News today and since I usually enjoy reading the essays by Moses Ma, I immediately dove into a story about Diving into Kunlun Bliss which I found interesting and entertaining. However, I do come from a very very different perspective as I actually do and teach others to do many of the things that are discussed as mystical advanced practices in the piece.

For the most part, the essay is a profile of Kunlun Bliss with nods toward Max Christensen, the sifu who is at the heart of the Lama Thunderbolt film . . . the trailer for which blows one away . . .

Now, I can and have done everything in that video and I have taught everything demonstrated in that video at one time or another.  Heck, I've even performed shows related to my Hypnosupernatural (the show I will be presenting TONIGHT at the Live Comedy Club in Taipei – see http://www.comedy.com.tw/node/346 for show and venue information and be sure to come), Trance Wizard, and Seance Hypnotic work. However, I come from a very very different modality.

I don't practice neigong, qigong, mesmerism, magnetic energy manipulation, or jedi mindtricks involving the force.  Instead, I work within the model of hypnosis to achieve the same results, employing consensual suggestion to achieve wonderful results that may appear magical or supernatural but that are well anchored in an understanding of the mind and how it works. In fact, if you were to pick up my Eroticatrance (Erotic Hypnosis), Engineering eXperiential Ecstasy, Exotic Inductions, and Core Skills DVD sets, you would have most of this sort of material pretty much explained and if you were to genuinely practice the skills in those sets, you would become a master of the processes and much more, including having a very firm footing on creating new effects of this sort.  No, you won't have supernatural powers . . . but you will be able to achieve the same effects.

Now, just because I can seemingly  move people with my mind or use voodoo dolls on them or create responses through energy manipulation or telepathically affect their behavior or guide someone through breathing and visualization into ecstasy that completely and utterly floods their nervous system or even allows them to drop or step away from fears, worries, or negative emotional connections . . . seemingly . . . by using a suggestion model and hypnotic processes, this in no way means that the Kunlun Nei Gung system is not what it appears to be at face value, that is. Far from it. There may be ways to achieve similar effects using very different models or systems. As I own manuals that describe how some of the old Chinese vagabond masters achieved some of their old Taoist effects based upon suggestion and gimmicks and know that there are folks who present what are in effect suggestion effects or magic tricks or illusions as genuine supernatural powers, I tend to approach such things with a critical mind . . . but, my belief system does accept that sombunal (some but not all) such folks may be genuine . . . albeit, I tend to examine such claims with a critical eye first and I teach my metaphysical or psychic hypnosis courses with that same openness to possibility while grounded within a critical mindset.

However, be that as it may, my genuine reaction to the Sifu Max video is one of joy in just how professionally done the video is. It's a beautiful trailer and Mantra Productions did a kick-ass job putting it together. Seriously, I wish someone would make a video like that for me. That is awesome. My capacity for critical though gets in the way of accepting it at face value, particularly as I've been there and done that but it's still a great piece of work.  Seriously, these folks have done a wonderful job putting this thing together and their design work is top notch.  Some day, I suppose I need to sit my ass down with someone with these sorts of technical skillsets for production and presentation.  Wonderful work indeed.  Right now, my productions are oriented on content presentation and while production is not awful, it's certainly not Hollywoodish . . . at the moment.  Great work from the Mantra folks and very entertaining to watch, regardless of what modality you work within.  Although, hint, some of the costumes look to be a bit on the inaccurate side for what they are purported to be representing, at least to those of us who actually live in Asia (a number of folks here in Taiwan and in Hong Kong who I've shown the video to have remarked upon some problems they had with the costuming choices, but then sometimes costuming is less about accuracy and more about personal preference – this coming from someone who has shot some DVD sets wearing Hawaiian shirts and others wearing formal wear from India – be comfortable and express yourself).
