Suicide Girls and Guns ‘n Roses . . .

Evidently, some folks were shocked to see the Suicide Girls perform as an opening act for a Guns ‘n Roses concert despite them being promoted on the flyers and posters . . . strip show came as a surprise . . . note that they did not actually strip to nudity but went down to g-strings which is not atypical for a hard rock dance act. While I agree they might have done a much better job at putting out parental guidance warnings, the folks who booed the risque program obviously have never been to the rural and southern areas of conservative ol’ Taiwan where I saw much more than simulated strips but full blown nekkid bits and full-on sex tricks involving blowguns, darts, balloons, coins, bottles, and more on a flat-bed truck parked on the side of a road with crowds of families with kids and the like standing around watching the thing . . . in comparison, Guns ‘n Roses come off as conservative coots. I do agree in parental warnings but also think the story comes off as the material being far more explicit and risque than it was. Burlesque of this type is perfectly appropriate for hard rock venues. Of course, I am a bit biased as I love burlesque, especially classic forms with some postmodern twists.
