that pass in the night . . .
. . . except it was day

Lorraine and I were at the university today and as we were turning to head off campus to forage for food, a stranger walked up towards us and then this softspoken voice said “Brian David Phillips, I did not expect to see you today” . . . I had no clue who he was but as I often get strangers introducing themselves to me by calling out my name “Brian David Phillips” it isn’t a completely unusual happenstance . . . except this time I actually knew the fellow without actually knowing him . . . it turns out, he was Epicure of here and here. We’ve known each other for some time without actually having met before (isn’t the internet neat?). He has commented on a few posts here and I’ve commented on a number of his posts in both places . . . a number of our interests overlap. He has some beautiful photography work at his main site as well (NSFW). In any case, it was nice to put a face to the persona. He came off as very gentle. He was heading to catch a bus back in to Taipei and we were on a tight schedule as we needed to get things done and then head back to fetch Kaye from Judo practice (yes, a third martial art for her list . . . the assistant teacher had nothing but praise for her . . . which is typical for her and sports). In any case, the encounter was surreal and a nice pleasant “ships that pass” sort of experience.

All the best,
Brian
