Today was one of those days . . . or it’s been one of those semesters but today was a doozy. The day started with an earthquake that shook the house a good’n. Then I can’t get my email as the network system for the university is screwed as the optical line beteen National Chengchi University and the Ministry of Education is screwed so no outside connections which also means I can’t connect in. This means my office server for my classes and other pages is off the net as well. Then my professional server is offline as there seems to be some weird issues at godaddy. That is still ongoing. Still can’t check email or access my office machine. Had an abstract for a conference due today and couldn’t email it. Eventually just stopped waiting and used my wife’s machine to send it to ’em. Have a bunch of stuff for my classes and for the Wen Shan Conference (which I am coordinator for as I am the Coordinator of the Literature Teachers in the Dept. this year). What a day. Oh, finally did get my home machine back after the hard drive crashed with half the system folders wiped out. The drive is still bad but I moved most of the sensitive stuff to another drive and am set to do a major backup this weekend. Last month my external drive died and we haven’t been able to save squat from it . . . that’s over twenty gigs of hypnosis video and audio gone as well as a ton of other stuff. Been one of those semesters. I am due for some good news at least on all those fronts. Had some really good stuff happen too but as it’s been one of those days the other evilities stick to mind a bit more.
