The Child Who Would Not Speak a Word . . .
. . . selective autism and therapeutic intervention

Harried Brown writes an interesting piece on the The Child Who Would Not Speak a Word . . . selective autism . . . at the New York Times. The background to how our view of the condition has changed is really quite fascinating . . . albeit, it is hopeful that non-drug interventions will eventually be recognized so that the basic fear and anxiety response can be lessened through other means. I haven’t seen any data on trancework, meditation, guided imagery, hypnosis, or focused trance but one would expect it to be helpful . . . assuming the therapist were able to insinuate into the sphere of normal interaction with the child. Interesting read.
