The public across the globe have been inundated with press releases about two events that sound very similar because they are.

Wendi Friesen has been promoting the Hypnotize America program (which really goes beyond the shores of the US with participants worldwide) for January 8. Basically, the event is a chance for the public to get to know about hypnosis, dispelling some of the myths while promoting some good causes.

Well . . . the National Guild of Hypnotists has also been promoting a World Hypnosis Day which they moved to January 4th. The purpose and scope is very similar.

The competing events have been dovetailing in terms of publicity. In some areas, the dual publicity has helped both events while in others it has caused some confusion. I notice that there are a number of PR pieces out there now that have confused both the names and the dates so that a news brief on one event is giving the dates or name of the other.
