The new music video from Antony Hegarty and his pop baroque collective Antony and the Johnsons is out and it’s very striking.
Set to “Cut the World,” the title track off the band’s live album, the cinematic counterpart stars Dutch actress Carice van Houten (Melisandre in “Game of Thrones”) and Willem Dafoe as a businessman in a generic modern downtown and is directed by Nabil Elderkin.

That striking moment at the end is with a cameo from Marina Abramović which is a bit of homage to the fact that the song was originally written for Robert Wilson’s 2011 Abramović biography, “The Life And Death Of Marina Abramović,” which also stars Dafoe. Readers of my blog will recognize Abramović as the artist behind the brilliant performance piece, The Artist is Present (see http://briandavidphillips.net/2012/07/09/marina-abramovic-the-artist-is-present/.
All the best,
