A few news outlets have picked up on a story from the Examiner that Kate Middleton may be turning to hypnosis to help with her severe case of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, an extreme form of morning sickness that can lead to very serious health issues.
Quite a few hypnosis blogs have started reporting the Middleton-Hypnosis link as well.
Except . . . the original story doesn’t actually say that Middleton is actually turning to hypnosis . . . it says she’s developed a condition that has psychological components and that hypnosis has an excellent track record when it comes to working on similar conditions with other folks.
The headlines are misleading ways to sell papers but the story seems more along the lines of “here’s a very famous beloved person who has a condition that can be helped with hypnosis and we sure hope she takes advantage of help from some competent person who practices hypnosis who might be able to help her” . . . that’s it.
Great copy but it ain’t exactly the same as the umpteen bajillian stories we have of celebrities who actually have used hypnosis to help them in a very wide variety of contexts.
Yes, hypnosis very likely could help Middleton . . . but . . . knowing it probably could help ain’t the same as knowing she knows and/or wants to engage a hypnotist to help her get through her obvious difficulties at the moment.
Here’s an Examiner piece (here).
