If you like, you can say this is not awesome . . . if you like . . . you’d be absofuckinloutely wrong but you can still say it.
Yes, Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play is a stage drama that takes place just after the apocalypse with a group of survivors who amuse themselves by acting out stories from The Simpsons television series . . . then we go to years later when they are re-enacting the stories professionally for the re-emerging civilization . . . then we go to a time much later when the stories have taken on new significance and meaning and are acted out in a completely different way.
Yes, it’s like that one-off joke when the survivors of the dragon post-apocalypse act out Star Wars but claiming they made the stories up themselves . . . except this goes deeper and is even a bit more twisted.
See Peter Marks’ full feature on the play at http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/theater_dance/in-mr-burns-civilization-may-fade-but-bart-simpson-is-forever/2012/06/04/gJQAEDCOEV_story.html.
I do so want to see this sucker.
All the best,
