Jedi-ism is Britain’s 4th Largest Religion

Yes, the heading is correct . . . census takers in Britain have found that when folks answer the question on religion, more and more folks . . . increasing with each census . . . are putting “Jedi” as their personal religious affiliation.

The last census in Britain now officially counts Jedi-ism as the FOURTH LARGEST RELIGION in Britain!

See http://richarddawkins.net/articles/596422-jedi-ism-britain-s-fourth-largest-religion-is-still-going-strong for more.

Now, obviously, a lot of folks are filling in the blank with Jedi as a goof . . . but . . . not all of them.

There are folks who are pushing for their jedi religious followings to be recognized as a genuine church and do so out of pious belief of sorts while others do so out of the energy of a very extended lark. Unlike Britain, New Zealand’s census takers aren’t actually counting those Jedi answers as part of the religious set despite efforts by the Jedi Church to become recognized. See http://www.jedichurch.org for more on that.

Either way, I seriously doubt that we’re going to find many folks worshiping like this:

Yes, it’s an odd development when a pseudo-religious view based upon a fictional series gets counted as a major religion . . . but . . . the world is sometimes a weird place and religions, serious or otherwise, sometimes add a lot to that weirdness.

All the best,
Brian
