Want to supercharge your Visual Attention? Play FPS video games.

I knew there had to be a good reason for me to play my First Person Shooter video games . . . and now there is one . . . studies have shown that people who play video games with a lot of chaotic information that must be selected have much higher visual attention skills. The farmville nonsense won’t cut it, we’re talking FPS games, those are the ones that have the effect. They found that non-gamers who practiced with FPS games had marked increase in Visual Selection abilities on post-test. See http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/wcs.116/abstract for an abstract of the research.

BTW, if you want a really wild FPS experience, see someone like myself . . . eXperiential hypnosis and FPS games can be an awesome experience, add on a 3D visualization system and you’re talking something absolutely amazing (caveats on safety apply).
