Spirituality Hypnosis

Had a worthwhile question today on the Hypnosis Technique eXchange at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypnosisTechniqueExchange on the use of hypnosis with spirituality.

Our quearant asks, “Guys, Can anyone post, or direct me to, hypnotic processes having to do with spirituality and spiritual awakening? I’m researching this.”

That really depends upon what you mean by spirituality and spiritual awakening. Even something as simple as the “energizer” can be used within spiritual context.

In many cases, it’s not the process but the context of application that makes the difference.

For instance, I have used Tarot Trance http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/dvt/dvt06.html as an introspective technique for years and have guided others into the process as a spiritual exercise . . . one doesn’t need to use Tarot cards for this process either as I’ve worked with Buddhist monks who used images of Bodhisattva as well for meditative and spiritual purposes and I’ve used it with images of Saints for devout Catholics (and even Playboy magazine for perhaps a different sort of “spirituality”). The process is fairly neutral it’s the context of application that is important and that makes it spiritual versus recreational or entertaining or therapeutic or educational or any combination thereof.

Of course, one man’s spirituality is another’s “la la landish circular fantasy” so caveat emptor on anything spiritual. However, what one person uses in one context may be dissonant to your spirituality as applied in that way but perhaps when adapted in another way could become very resonant with your own spirituality.

For instance, my Higher Self process is intended specifically for spiritual development – http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/cd/cd05.html – but some folks use it strictly for therapy. While Intuition Enhancement for some is a “psychic” processhttp://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/cd/cd39.html – but for others is part of a spiritual path. However, the Parts Process was specifically developed for therapeutic application – http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/cd/cd45.html – but has been incorporated by many into a spiritual path as part of a clearing away burdens and baggage, as has the Letting Go of the Past process – http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/cd/cd32.html – and I know folks who have used the Inviting Love In materials – http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/cd/cd13.html – less for romantic love than for spiritual love.

The key questions of “What’s your context?” and “How do you wish to adapt the process to that context?” are much more important than the specific process itself . . . at least in my opinion.

Having said that, there are some free audio files in the special audio archive at http://trancesociety.net/community which discuss and demonstrate a number of processes that have obvious application to spirituality and spiritual awakening contexts for many folks . . . at least they have been used that way . . . even material such as the Energy Orgasms and Breatherotic (breathing orgasms) processes originally developed as part of spiritual practice and are still used within that very powerful context.

For those with an interest, my Experiential Ecstasy DVD set at http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/ecstasydvd.html is full of techniques that were originally part of spiritual practice that have also been used for therapeutic, recreational, and even erotic application as well as all sorts of wonderful contextual combinations of these.

Similarly the material taught in the Psychic or Metaphysical Hypnosis DVD set at http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/psychic.html came out of similar exploration and technique development.

Most folks who work with the Lifetrance materials at http://www.briandavidphillips.com/products/lifetrance.html likewise are pursuing a spiritual component to their work . . . some use the very same processes without the assumption of a belief in reincarnation but as a archetypal exploration.

In most of my courses, I teach improvisational hypnosis . . . the creation of new processes off the cuff based upon ques or components within the context of the session . . . I have found that spiritual hypnosis is a very appropriate context for this sort of work. What is the goal of the moment, what sort of spirituality are you interested in exploring . . . by answering some key questions like this one can then tailor the process to fit the context and use the trance partner’s own beliefs, values, interests, and needs, to guide them into a spiritual experience that has the most value to them.

I hope this has been helpful. The Metaphysical Hypnosis category of this blog at https://briandavidphillips.net/category/metaphysical-hypnosis/ has more information and resources you may wish to check.

All the best,
Brian
