Hasbro My3D

Hasbro is coming out with a device attachment for iPhone and iPod that allows viewers to see photos and play games or evidently watch video content in 3D. It looks like a techno version of a viewmaster viewer. Actually, amateur 3D enthusiasts have been hacking such doohickies for awhile but this is the first massmarket variation. Hopefully, it works well enough. I am not sure how well it will sell as consumers who bitch about putting on glasses for their 3D televisions are not likely to be excited about a special viewer for their ipods or iphones but we’ll see. Of course, a better adaptation is for Apple to begin using autostereoscopic screens that deliver 3D with no eye-wear needed much like the Fuji 3D camera and some Korean 3D cellphones use.

In any case, the Hasbro device might be worth checking out when it hits shelves . . . assuming it’s readily available (we haven’t had viewmaster products in Taiwan in a couple decades).
