The folks at io9 have collected an assortment of news, photos, and videos of Burlesque productions in a variety of cities that cater to the geek heart . . . yes, science fiction and fantasy burlesque is alive and well and ain’t that an awesomely good thing!

Of course, io9 is no stranger to such sciencefictionie burlesque goodness.  They’ve reported on a few shows in the past, some a bit more twisted than others.

One particularly odd choice of story was the Batman-themed piece by Epic Win Burlesque (http://epicwinburlesque.com) which portrayed the Joker torturing Barbara Gordon which some considered a bit closer to torture porn than comedy goodness.  However, the piece was only part of their Holy Shit Batman Burlesque revue (http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/03/01/batman-burlesque-dancers/) which got good marks overall.  The troupe’s facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=241684219901) has photos of a number of performance concepts they’ve explored, including Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, and more pieces.

The Hotsy Totsy Burlesque folks did a wild and wicked Doctor Who Burlesque as well (http://andiamnotlying.com/2010/dr-who-burlesque-dont-blink-youll-miss-the-boobies/) with an admonition that one should not blink or you might miss the boobies (an homage to one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes with the Angels and lots of scary scariness).
