I was almost tempted to file this under science fiction but it's real. Scientists have managed to restore sight to individuals who are blind, at least one for decades, through a new stem cell therapy that harvests stem cells from one's own eye in order to grown replacement cornea. See the video at http://news.yahoo.com/video/health-15749655/medical-breakthrough-restoring-sight-to-the-blind-20498197 . . . the ramifications are powerful and the prospects for the future amazing, albeit a ways away before Luke gets his arm back or anything remotely like that . . . yep, it's a brave new world.
