h i n t

Here's a hint on random chat etiquette . . . while I'm always happy to hear from folks how much they enjoy my videos . . . if we've never met and you've never taken one of my live courses or purchased any of my products or I don't know you personally and you randomly start a chat with me via yahoo or msn or skype or facebook or hypnothoughts or the like . . . while telling me you enjoy my videos is okay, it's not really okay to then go on and on and on and on about all the money you've spent or hours you've devoted on courses you've taken from others or products you've purchased from others . . . if you're one of my students, I'm happy to give you some feedback or direction or if you've purchased my products then I'm happy to discuss pointers to improve your application of the material . . . but . . . if you've never been my student or my customer, then asking me to provide you with free tutorial on applying someone else's material isn't the best of form.

I'm not trying to sound like a complete and total dick here . . . but . . . I already provide a LOT of FREE resources and material for the community, more than most folks, via my youtube channel, my blog, my hypnosis technique exchange, my eXperiential hypnosis newsletter, my free workshops, and more . . . we're talking a LOT of material I've given to the community freely and openly with no strings attached or recompense sought.  As I'm a bit of a prolific writer and producer, over the years I've produced quite a large archive of freely available material . . . for you.

If you want to say "ni hao" or "hi" or "howdy" . . . that's kool, I'm good with that.  However, if you are expecting a quick and random live one-on-one free tutorial, step back and think for a minute.  I do have this annoying thing called a "life" and while I'm a generous and friendly person for the most part, my time and resources are limited.  If you want free advice, then go to the exchange.  If you want minute attention, then at least come to a seminar or purchase a product before zapping me with random queries about this or that technique.

Sorry if this sounds dickish or grumpy but the last couple weeks have seen an increase in random chat attacks . . . and while most folks are kind and friendly and I'm happy to hear from 'em, a few folks who've never been to a seminar or purchased a product have been rather demanding for answers to questions regarding techniques they've learned from other people's products (which begs the question of why don't they go ask the person who sold them the set) . . . although one fellow did tell me that he absolutely loved one of my DVD sets which he copied from a friend's copy of a friend's copy (I kid you not, a fan letter admitting to piracy).  Grrrrrrr.

I'm happy to give generously . . . but . . . while I absolutely love community building and the hypnosis community, I still have to make a living at this stuff so please show some consideration.

Frustrated rant mode out . . .

All the best,
Brian
