On the Hypnosis Technique Exchange (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypnosisTechniqueExchange), there is a fascinating discussion taking place regarding the use of a hypnotic spinning technique to change anger responses (reversing the direction one experiences a negative emotional spin).
Taking things out of the body can be very useful for changework, externalizing them so that we can work on them but within a partially dissociated state (albeit, associated dissociation as it's out of the body but we feel it which can be a rather interesting state in and of itself).
The reverse spin is an elegant process for change. Those of you familiar with Paul McKenna's old therapy television show may remember him using it quite often (a variation of the technique as he learned it from Bandler and company) although of more interest was his rather common use of EFT but with dressing about it being used in Eastern European hospitals without the energy context of its actual origin.
When I externalize things in a hypnotic context, I tend to add in color components to the change work as well. See my CHANGE HANDS process on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6VZomWHH_c which is one example of such an externalized associated dissociative method that uses externalization, ideomotor movement, and color effect.
