Star Trek

Most of you know that I'm a bit of a science fiction geek and most definitely a trekker.

The Phillips Clan, Taiwan Branch, went to see STAR TREK last night at the Miramar.  Wow.  We
enjoyed it quite a bit.  The reboot makes sense (both from a franchise point of
view so they can tell completely new stories while paying homage to the past
while not being dragged down into the problem of feeling compelled to repeat the
past or the bleakness that Pine's character must become Shatner's) and the film
– despite a few moments of lensflaramania – was awesome.  Awesome.  Okay, it was beyond awesome, if awesome was a little bit it would be a whole lot and that's a whole lot of awesome as if it were the incredible huge area of strange matter that seems to be pulling all of the universe into it . . . more awesome than can ever be fathomed but it's there.  Okay, that last bit might be stretching it, but that does not in any way detract from the awesomeness of the reboot.

Kaye tells me it was very good (high praise from her).

We had a wonderful time.  I can understand why Wil Wheaton twittered that as
soon as it finished he wanted to run back into the theatre and see it
again.

All the best,
Brian
