How well do you know your kid’s sex life?
. . . Teen-Parent Promiscuity Poll . . .
. . . residing in different realities

New York Magazine asked one hundred teenagers about their sex lives and then they asked one hundred parents what they thought their kids would answer . . . The 100-Teen-vs.-100-Parent Promiscuity Poll . . . parents and teens are definately living in very very different worlds. Across the board, the teens were more active than the parents thought. The questions on sexual orientation were interesting in that the vast majority of the parents assume their kids are straight with almost no possibility for bisexuality or homosexuality . . . different story among the kids. Of the kids surveyed, there were only boys who identified themselves as gay while a number of girls came out as bi (fits with other sexuality surveys). A number of parents assume their kids aren’t having sex for religious reasons but very few kids take that to heart. All in all, it’s an interesting experiment in cultural dynamics. Those of us with kids entering teendom don’t really look at this one as encouraging but it’s not suprising that on average parents don’t understand their kids and kids don’t understand their parents but that they believe they do. Welcome to the species.
