Expatriate Manhunt in Shanghai . . .
. . . a reason for anonymity

Well, you can’t read Chinabounder’s blog anymore unless you are invited to do so. He’s an expatriate living in Shanghai who has been keeping an online journal of his exploints between the sheets in the form of the Sex and Shanghai: Western Scoundrel in Shanghai Tells All blog. Well, it seems some of the locals find his antics and his views on Chinese men to be rather upsetting . . . sex blog triggers manhunt in Shanghai. He’s been getting a lot of bad press and negative comments on his blog about polluting girls or worse. He has also been getting some very aggressive threats of physical violence. There are folks who are so pissed that they are looking for him to beat the crap out of him. Now, some of the things he’s said about Chinese are tongue in cheek and others are cultural observations from his interpretation of his experience in Shanghai . . . just as I know some guys from Taiwan who said very similar things about American men or some very unflattering things about American women as they sought to have sex with as many as they could. His blog was informative and entertaining satire . . . I can’t read it now as I’ve no way of knowing how to get “invited” to read the thing. However, given the reaction from locals who want to play baseball with his kneecaps it’s probably a good thing he wrote his material anonymously. I use my real name on my stuff and I still get the odd “yankee go home” random hate email and my blog is pretty tame material (well, tame to me).

Oh, here’s a twist for you . . . a female fan of Chinabounder has her blog to present her own take on life in China . . . Chinaboundress.

All the best,
Brian
