Street Hypnosis and Other Hypnotic Goings On . . .

For those who have asked . . . the street hypnosis gig went well. It was truly weird doing street hypnosis in a venue with music from live bands blaring all around . . . in all honesty, it was NOT really the right venue for the sort of things expected and the organization of the event could have been handled a bit better . . . we were told to show up at 4:45 to check in at the street performers table and there was no such table to be found and we didn’t even see any other actual street performers so a lot of folks just thought we were being strange out there . . . but it was a lot of fun.

All told, I did ten individual sessions during my time slot – complete with shouting over the noise to be heard – go ahead and see how you do shouting “breathe in, breathe out, relax” at the top of your lungs. As I told the very kind elderly gentleman sufferring from the effects of a stroke “if you can follow my directions and experience these wonderful effects in this environment with the music blaring in the background then you know that later when you want to use it for more therapeutic purposes you are good to go” . . . he did wonderfully and folks noted that we were getting some nice ideomotor response from his hand that has limited conscious movement ability (albeit, I explained very clearly we were only going to do some playful things and NOT anything particularly therapeutic at that time in that place, just a “let’s play a bit kind of thing”). Incorporating the sound of beat of the band into a Mother Earth Energy Visualization process was also quite a hoot – I made the patter up on the spot and think I’ll keep it and tweak it as it really went over well. Since we could FEEL the beat of the music, it made sense to improvise that we could FEEL the beat of the energy manifesting through the roots of the visualization set. The Pleasure Stones I brought were also very popular (I give those to folks as gifts for helping me out by participating and they are fun (probably the subject of some future Hypnocast . . . although Lorraine – my wife – tells me she thinks I should alter my patter so folks don’t feel too upset if they lose these extremely wonderful pleasure stones and I joked to her that I should treat the stones like drugs so that the first one is free and if they lose them they have a compulsion to come back to me and replace them and then charge an arm and a leg . . . wouldn’t treat ’em that way but it seemed for a moment that these things were Mental Ecstacy . . . except a lot stronger than the drug and a hell of a lot safer and a whole lot more fun and customizeable.

My friend, David Fonteneau, who recently visited Taipei as a guest for my Introduction to Stage Hypnosis Seminar and to hang out . . . will appreciate that I used my Hypnotic Eye Ring (one of the ones we got at the night market for that amazingly expensive price of NT$50) three times during the event . . . holding up my hand with the ring turned palmward so they see my hand and I say “Look into my eye” . . . that’s a confusion induction in and of itself! It’s a hoot . . . and it WORKS!

Lorraine and I enjoyed ourselves and hung around with other hypnotists afterward.

We are teaching the Introduction to Stage Hypnosis Seminar again Sept. 4-8, 2006 and a weekend course for couples again Sept. 23-24 (more intimacy/intimage trance processes). We are very likely to offer the Advanced course which a number of folks have been asking about some time in January (Lorraine and I will set the dates after my university schedule is more clear and will then fill more bits on the schedule – keep updated by checking out the training section of my webpages at http://www.briandavidphillips.com – we will be posting a price restructuring soon too). On other stage hypnosis fronts, expect some exciting news soon.

All the best,
Brian
