Polygamy . . . the dabate hits the stretch . . .

Linda Milazzo has an interesting critical view of the upcoming polygamy debate that is likely to be used by conservatives to take the nation’s mind off the war and other presidential failures . . . Polygamy: Loading The Barrels To Ignite the Right . . . she has some interesting points so go read the original article . . . in addition to the thoughtful analysis which I agree and disagree with . . . I did find the author bio blurb to be worth a chuckle . . .

Linda Milazzo is a Los Angeles based writer, educator and activist. Her writing has appeared in a variety of newspapers, magazines and domestic and international journals. She’s a member of CodePink Women For Peace and Progressive Democrats of America. Over the past three decades Linda has divided her time between the entertainment industry, community projects and education. A political and social activist since the Vietnam War, Linda attributes her revitalized-fully-engaged-intense-head-on-non-stop-political activism to the UNFORTUNATE EXISTENCE OF GEORGE W. BUSH and her disgust with greed-ridden American imperialism, environmental atrocities, egregious war, nuclear proliferation, lying leaders, and global tyranny. Whew… try saying that one three times fast…

It does seem likely that the Republican right may very well use polygamy as their smokescreen issue in much the way gay marriage was the smokescreen issue last election. However, I would suggest that they did not lose gay marriage but that enough states went red merely because of that issue that it certainly was a hard fought battle.

BTW, for those in need of a clue . . . marriage . . . gay, polygamous, polyandrous, or otherwise . . . is OKAY as long as is is fully consensual . . . informed consent. Adults should be able to choose their lifestyles . . . religous values related to marriage should not be dictated as universals in this regard.

In my opinion, of course.
