GoDaddy Too Hot . . . no, Fox too whipped

This is stupid . . . really . . . really stupid . . . ad for GoDaddy too hot to handle . . . Fox already saw and approved the ad. If it was too "hot" then they should have made that call before they took GoDaddy‘s five million dollars for two spots plus an end credit marquee.

The GoDaddy perspective is here.

Now, thanks to the Fox decision to pull the ad . . . GoDaddy is getting a LOT more airtime and exposure as everyone and his pet monkey comments upon the ad and the censorship decision. Now, that’s a clever marketing ploy, if only it had been intentional.

Honestly, the ad is clever and cute but it certainly isn’t all that provacative. The MSNBC article makes it sound like the model, Candice Michelle who is as hot as hot can be, is jumping around topless and sexually assaulting a bunch of senators. Hardly. As sexy ads go, the old beer ads with the wet-t-shirt and mud fights were a hell of a lot sexier.

This was cute, clever, but nothing to write home about . . . well, nothing until someone at Fox and the NFL panicked and pulled the thing the way they did. Now, everyone’s writing home about it.

See the original ad here in both the original approved version and the web-only version.

The play on the wardrobe malfunction by Janet Jackson from last year is cute. The setting of the congressonal censorship tribunal in Salem, Mass., is right on the money. The quirkiness is cute. The rest is just okay . . . until context is setup. An ad parodying censorship over what is essentially wholesome risque fun that gets censored is the face of the future staring at us and it’s an ugly face. Real ugly.

Weirdness, I’ve been looking at various domain registry sites for my new server and GoDaddy is one of the ones I had just looked at when this story broke. Of course, due to reasons having nothing to do with good product or service, they’re looking better and better. Damned conservatives, they cause me to make kneejerk purchasing decisions just to piss them off. Grrrr.

Via Fleshbot (with tons of links to Candice Michelle photo sites, ultra hot and some of those are NSFW).
