Hmm . . . mixed signals here . . . the Pentagon like big breasts on female soldiers but male soldiers who see prostitutes get prosecuted. Remember, the Pentagon’s much ridiculed recruitment device of offering to pay for breast enlargement surgery for women who joined the military? Now, the Pentagon plans to punish prostitution ‘johns’ . . . seems an odd combination of values. While I agree with the spirit of keeping soldiers out of prostitution houses where sexual slavery and human traficking occurs . . . the blanket prohibition is going to become problematic and seems a bit moralistic where the military has not business moralizing. You can disagree . . . and you would be able to make a pretty good case based upon the entire consent argument which is a very powerful one . . . however, the consent argument could be extended into the case by case scenario so that guys who contribute to forced prostitution or who give business to the runners of this type are prosecuted while those who go to legitimate working girls are not . . . of course, then prosecution and investigation becomes a lot more work . . . hmmm . . . maybe they should just set up their own campfollowers brigades a la General Hooker . . . perhaps offering breast implants and a college scholarship for girls who sign up. The whole thing is ludicrous enough to go into policy.
