The lawyers for Cameron Diaz are aggressively trying to shut up any bloggage reportage of her S&M sex tape with Legal Threats. From the letter sent to Gawker it looks like they’re confusing those reporting that the tape is for sale with those who are selling it. Basically, she participated in an S&M photo/video shoot when she was young and pre-famous where she strips and evidently squirts compressed gas at her nipples (who would have thunk it) and repeatedly shouts at a hot guy pretending to be a submissive. From the reports, the tape is not really very erotic. She seems to be claiming that she never signed a release or that she signed it under false pretenses (whichver account you read at the time) while the photographer who sold the material to a Russian company says she did. Since this is a pretty standard fare softcore piece with a professional crew, it seems unlikely that she didn’t sign the release or that IDs weren’t clearly copied. Instead of trying to shut it down, a better strategy might have been to acknowledge she did it when young and unaware of the real longterm consequences of her actions and that it is just something to leave behind her.

Of course, now that the lawyers are going after the sites reporting the story, it will become even more of a bit for the public eye instead of fading away quickly which it would have done given the problems the servers of the company selling the tape are having and all of the really wretched reviews the tape is getting. Seriously, no one wanted it except to see Cameron’s boobs but given the awful reviews and the already pretty clear flood of images captured from it out there they might have given it a miss now they’re going to want it even more and the so-called scandal will continue.
