The current scare going through the adult industry related to two male performers being diagnosed as HIV+ demonstrates a couple things.

One, the speed with which responsible companies have reacted in halting filming and stepping up testing in order to find anyone who may have been infected by the men.

Two, that the adult entertainment industry has for the most part realized how serious public health and safety issues are for their talent.

And, three, there are still individuals out there who cheat and endanger everyone. The Brazillian set where at least one of the men became infected was ripe with HIV and fake test results. The industry has been trying very hard to minimize STD infections, partly to protect business interests and partly to safeguard the community of individuals who work in adult entertainment – it is for the most part a small community so if one person is infected, it is likely many will become infected so to safeguard that community, it just makes sense to self-police.
