EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

On3 March, Brian David Phillips will be conducting a three-hour introductory workshop on VICARIOUS EXPERIENTIAL MACHINE: Trance Techniques for Physical Skill Acceleration in Taipei.

This session is an introductory abbreviated variation of our lengthier Educational Hypnosis and Creative Performance Enhancement Hypnosis workshops in which Rev. Dr. Brian David Phillips will teach participants a number of processes for directly accessing the power of the unconscious mind to accelerate physical skill improvmement. A number of techniques will be demonstrated. Join us as Dr. Phillips guides participants through a series of processes, and more.

Please bring a three to five minute video and media player for the practical work. Your video should be a short piece which illustrates a physical process (sport, game, dance, martial art, skill, whatever) that you would like to improve. Bring an appropriate media player – phone, notebook computer, tablet, mp3 player, whatever) that you can play your video on for the practice portion of the workshop. We will NOT have the sound up on the videos so the action should be very clear – many folks Dr. Phillips works with – professional athletes, dancers, and martial artists – will edit together a short clip of several folks performing a particular movement perfectly (say, the perfect golf swing or jump shot for basketball or tennis serve) while others will bring a process video (such as the steps of a dance or kata or a Tai-Chi process and the like).

Dr. Phillips will introduce concepts and provide demonstrations of deep trance identification and other techniques for skill enhancement via trancework.

During the VICARIOUS EXPERIENTIAL MACHINE workshop, Dr. Phillips will discuss the material, perform individual demonstrations of suggestibility effects, imagination games, waking hypnotic effects, and suggestibility sequences. Participants may be experienced or newcomers. All are welcome.

This is a hands-on workshop. Brian David Phillips (master hypnotist) will demonstrate the mental processes and then participants will practice with one another so come prepared to learn by doing, learn by creating, to be and to flow freely.

INSTRUCTOR:

The workshop is taught by Rev. Dr. Brian David Phillips, an internationally known and respected hypnosis practitioner, educator, author, and entertainer. Dr. Phillips is particularly well known within the hypnosis community for his innovative work in eroticatrance (erotic hypnosis), speed hypnosis, and creative hypnosis techniques. Dr. Phillips is President of the Society of Experiential Trance and editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Experiential Trance. Dr. Phillips is the coordinator and chief instructor for the oldest English-language hypnosis and focused-trance practice group in Taiwan and is the owner and moderator of one of the largest online email discussion communities related to hypnosis and focused trance techniques. He has taught numerous workshops and seminars on hypnosis, focused trance, and experiential hypnosis in a variety of countries throughout the world as well as a number of webinars (web-based seminars) on these and related subjects. Dr. Phillips is an associate professor at National Chengchi University. Dr. Phillips uses rapid and instant hypnosis inductions routinely in his Waking Dreams Hypnosis Show, the only ongoing entertainment comedy hypnosis stage show in Taiwan.

TEACHING METHODS:

This workshop relies upon a very fast-paced system of demonstration and practice. More than any other course, this workshop consists of demonstration, explanation, practice, practice, practice. It is NOT intended as a lecture or passive learning experience. It is a very fast-paced and energetic program so students should come ready, willing, able, and eager to jump right in and run full speed ahead. The teaching methodology is very active. Students will learn through all of their sensory learning channels, particularly aural, visual, and kinesthetic . . . listening, seeing, and doing . . . as it is a practical applications competence course, there is a great deal of supervised “doing” with immediate and useful feedback. Typically, for each subject or technique, the training is within the following process model: 1. instructor briefs students on the topic, 2. instructor demonstrates technique with student volunteer, 3. the demonstration is then broken down into steps, 4. students then practice the technique several times with one another under guidance of the instructor with ongoing feedback, 5. class debriefs about experience and technique with performance notes from instructor, 6. students continue advanced practice (including homework for some techniques), 7. final debriefing with instructor. The course focuses upon competence and application of material.

The workshop is taught in English (we are happy to provide limited English to Chinese interpretation provided a sufficient number of folks register and request it, please contact Lorraine in a very timely manner for details).

VIDEO and RECORDING POLICIES:

Please Note, participants may NOT use recording devices during the seminar. However, as is typical, the instructor may record the training. Participation in this seminar is considered explicit consent to be recorded on video, audio, and photograph. You must participate, wallflowers need not register.

While there is certainly nothing untoward in the workshop, those who wish to obscure their identity within the video, may wear a masquerade style mask (half, not full facial). See the image here for an example of acceptable style.
