Calling Occupants of Enterprise

I was looking for videos of Klaatu‘s version of Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft to share with my daughter Kaye and came across this little gem which mashes The Carpenters better known version with Star Trek for First Contact goodness . . .

I prefer the longer World Contact Day version by The Carpenters but this is a nice edit (I hate the corny radio guy intro on some of the videos out there as it is cheezy and a half).

I absolutely love that song and teach it when I hit the Science Fiction and Music section of my Literature of the Fantastic: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror course at the university . . . this is a fun video mishmosh. Now, if only I could find a good video of LaCosta Tucker‘s Jessie and the Light which for a time was on repeat play on my album player way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I was in my youth (back when albums were vinyl, luckily I recorded my album to tape and then a few years later digitized that as I can’t find a solid mp3 of the beast which is too bad as it’s a sweet science fiction country ballad if ever there was one).

All the best,
Brian
