Autostereoscopic “Wobble” 3D Images Redux

As many of you know, I love 3D photography . . . crazy about it . . . just plain bonkers for it . . . and I like to fiddle around with autostereoscopic image making for many of my posts here. Many of you have commented on my gallery of wobbles as well as my 3D posts here.

Jonas Lönborg took a good look at some of my images and he’s done them one or three better. You can see some of his results here and at Autostereoscopic “Wobble” 3D Images Redux.

Basically, Jonas added 6 more frames to each image, 3 between each of the original frames (if you look at the animation as a sort of “full-circle” thing). He then faded each new frame into the target frame by changing the opacity, first 75%, then 50% and finally 25%. I also changed the delay to “none.”

Here are some of his results (first my original image followed by his variation) . . . please give the images plenty of time to load as his are a lot slower at loading than mine:

While a couple of these don’t work as well for me, I like his effect overall. His tend to be smoother, in part due to the added frames while I have been using simply the two frames from the original stereocamera which can create a choppy movement. Hopefully there will be a streamlined way to get the effect. I really do like being able to plug in one of my stereophotos into Anabuilder and just use the automated and batch functions to create wobbles . . . perhaps the good folks who make the Anabuilder software can be persuaded to tweak in some extra functionality into their software.

In the meantime, folks with an interest in 3D photography are encouraged to join the stereoview exchange to learn more and to share or discuss images.
