The process I call the VICARIOUS EXPERIENTIAL MACHINE is a trance method in which a person drops into an experiential trance in such a way that what they see is experienced as if it is happening to them. The technique was first developed for helping athletes, dancers, and martial artists accelerate their improvement in training physical skillsets. Vicarious experience is the learning we have from watching someone else, it’s also based upon a sort of empathy (that emotional connection you have with the characters while watching an engrossing movie). However, with hypnosis or experiential trance we can take advantage of the mirror neurons firing off from observing an action and program the mind so that we not only feel empathy or informed knowledge but that we actually feel as if whatever we are viewing is happening to us.
With athletes and the like, this method can accelerate physical skill mastery quite a bit (I’ve worked with Olympic class swimmers and professional dancers as well as top pro golfers using this very method for this purpose).
Now, POV combined with vicarious experiential hypnosis isn’t new . . . nope, not at all.
