I received a question about an old post from 2008 and noticed the reference links were dead so I’m updating the beastie here.
Readers of this blog know that I know more than a little about creating the little death . . . la petite mort . . . the big o . . . orgasmic responses via hypnosis . . . more than a lot, actually (https://briandavidphillips.net/category/eroticatrance/) . . . what with all the courses I teach and materials I write and even the rather more than adult oriented MP3s available for folks with such an interest. Well, that’s obviously not all I teach as it is obvious to some that accessing the ecstatic mind can relate to a wide diversity of pursuits such as acting (see my trance-acting work as in addition to my hypnosis work, I trained in theatre and do teach acting-directing at the university as well as private tutorials), hypnosis, meditation, performance enhancement and more in addition to the obvious erotic or introspective applications.
Heck, I even teach certification courses for specializations in erotic hypnosis for hypnotists and those interested in enhancing their own intimate relationships.

Of course, eroticatrance is an area of hypnosis work that is growing exponentially and finally getting some mainstream and clinical recognition. In this short press piece, Terry Doherty explores some therapeutic applications:
Sexual issues can often be a taboo subject for most and one that can last for a great deal of time if ignored. But did you know that sexual problems can be easily treated through hypnotherapy.
Comments Terry Doherty, of leading hypnotherapy practice The Mind Works, “There are several ways in which hypnosis can help with sexual issues. A common, effective use of hypnotherapy is to lower your anxiety. The anticipation of failure (particularly for men anxious about their ability to have or to maintain an erection) brings on anxious feelings. These in turn bring about the failure. Hypnotherapy ends this vicious circle and replaces the anticipation of failure with the certainty of success and confidence!”
But it’s not just men that can benefit from hypnotherapy for sexual matters. Continues Terry Doherty. “Many people have little or no understanding that sex is a purely mental thing. When it comes to achieving orgasm during sex, the mental side of the ordeal can play a huge part in the strength or absence of the orgasm. For men, an orgasm is more about the physical stimulation, but for women, the mental focus on the joining of them with their partner can either bond the two together or make for troubled waters. If the mental focus on sex is blocked, the orgasm simply will not occur.”
Sexual relationships are based upon the mental connection you have with your partner. Whether you are a new couple or a seasoned relationship that is in need of sexual help, hypnosis is the natural answer. While medications may help the symptoms, they are not the cure for the underlying problem.
Hypnosis can dig into the mind and find the problems associated with the sexual troubles. If there is a reason the mind has blocked the enjoyment of sex, the hypnotherapist will find that reason. The mind tends to protect itself from the evils it sees. That means, if there is a previous experience that caused the mind to put up a block toward the pain involved, that block will need to be found and eliminated. These blockages can be unblocked by tapping into the individual’s resources and enhancing their imagination to create the changes that the client needs.
The hypnotherapist will gently take the patient back through memories by guiding the process with a sexual focus. This will allow the hypnotherapist to extract any memories regarding sex that may not be present in the conscience state of mind. It is the sub conscience that is the most important aspect during sex. Sometimes it is not the memories we actively remember that cause us to have troubles in the bedroom, it is the memories that we have placed far away in the mind.
Once the hypnotherapist finds any memories associated with sex and the possibility of sexual troubles, the therapy can begin. Extracting these memories will only take place while under hypnosis, so the memories will not come back to haunt the individual in everyday life. The sessions are gentle and medication free meaning that the patient can worry less about how they will react to the therapy as all memories will be left in the sub conscience until completely removed or remedied. Only during the hypnosis sessions will the hypnotherapist gently bring you back to those memories and help you come to terms with the event that is controlling your sexual life.

As many of you know, I strongly push a distinction between trance for arousal and trance for orgasm.
Hmmm . . . orgasm or arousal? That is the question. There is a tendancy, when presented with the opportunity, for many folks to jump right in and focus on the orgasm right off the get-go when an arousal set is so much more appropriate. Orgasms are great, I reccommend them, but arousal has advantages too. This isn't simply the old foreplay question as technique in order to more readily lead to orgasm, we're talking about toolsets that get you there right away, but then what?
As has been discussed on multiple times on this blog before in regard to what happens when many folks discover that it's possible to hypnotically program a partner to have orgasms at the firing of a simple trigger . . . orgasm buttons, if you will.
One difficulty that emerges with that fact (yes, indeed, it is fact) is that some folks focus on that ol' orgasm button and forget there's a whole lot more to a relationship than the orgasm. In fact, if all you're doing is pushing the button, you're forgetting about a whole bunch of other important stuff.
