This session is an introductory abbreviated variation of our lengthier Waking Hypnosis and Creative Improvisational Hypnosis workshops in which Rev. Dr. Brian David Phillips will teach participants a number of processes for directly accessing the power of the unconscious mind to create amazing imaginative effects employing genuine eyes-open hypnosis and suggestibility sequences. STICKY STUCK STUCKER PEN

Many of you are familiar with my use of suggestibility effects to create doorways into waking hypnosis sessions. You also know that one of my favorite patterns begins with the classic “stick stuck to hand” suggestibility effect which is then sequenced into other effects for eyes-open waking hypnotic fun. I will often use this as the opening of seminars, classes, and the like. Well, here I am at it again . . . pretty straightforward sequence, but note her reaction at the end . . .delightful . . ..

SUGGESTIBILITY SEQUENCE FUN

This is a bit of fun with a classic suggestibility concept. Regular readers have seen me use components of the sequence elsewhere, but the opening component isn’t often used and I don’t know of many folks who take it to amnesia and name replacement from the get-go quite so quickly in the sequence (hint to performers, it’s a very powerful convincer both for an individual and for an audience when you pluck a random audience meber from a crowd and perform this sequence.
No smoke, no mirrors, this is done as a waking hypnosis patter, in complete awareness and without any formal induction . . . just plain ol’ waking suggestion.

This is a clip filmed on December 30, 2008, with a young woman as trance partner in her first-ever hypnosis session. This was done prior to the formal session.

WAKING HYPNOSIS WITH MISS INDIA

During a break before I presented a special seminar on Trance-Acting (trance techniques for actors) to a Bollywood acting studio’s special invitation audience in Mumbai, I had a chance to do some tranceplay with a former Miss India with some waking suggestion fun.

One can vary the length and content of a sequence and then leverage it to best effect depending upon context.

SUGGESTIBILITY EFFECT SEQUENCING:
A KEY TO WAKING HYPNOSIS

Many hypnotists learn about suggestibility effects (well, they learn them as “tests” but that’s just a bassackwards way of looking at this incredibly valuable resource) and then they never really use them, at least not in a way that makes them truly powerful. If you sequence a number of suggestibility effects you can build powerful response sets of waking hypnosis. Here’s one of the simple sequences I use.

The trance partner is the floor manager in the studio and the sequence was captured prior to setting up for studio taping. STICKY STICK WAKING HYPNOSIS

As many folks know, I like to open my live seminars with a bit of fun based upon a cold volunteer from the audience and some waking hypnosis with no prior induction, just straight out suggestibility effects sequenced into a responsiveness pattern.

This clip is from the beginning moments of my Experiential Hypnotherapy seminar taught in Mumbai from Jan. 24, 2009. This is a sequence from one of my favorite suggestibility effects, the stick-stuck-to-hand suggestibility bit that is sequenced into other effects for genuine waking hypnosis:

SUGGESTIBLE SEQUENCING AND
DEEP TRANCE SPONTANEOUS AMNESIA

During a demonstration of a number of suggestibility effects, I gave a volunteer several increasingly oddball suggestions and compounded the effects. After emerging from hypnosis, he ended up “forgetting” what had happened – a case of spontaneous deep trance amnesia. During the debriefing, I suggested that the memory return and he was a bit shocked and amused to discover that his butt had “vanished” during the session.

The workshop is taught by Rev. Dr. Brian David Phillips, an internationally known and respected hypnosis practitioner, educator, author, and entertainer. TEACHING METHODS:

This workshop relies upon a very fast-paced system of demonstration and practice. More than any other course, this workshop consists of demonstration, explanation, practice, practice, practice. It is NOT intended as a lecture or passive learning experience. It is a very fast-paced and energetic program so students should come ready, willing, able, and eager to jump right in and run full speed ahead. The teaching methodology is very active. Students will learn through all of their sensory learning channels, particularly aural, visual, and kinesthetic . . . listening, seeing, and doing . . . as it is a practical applications competence course, there is a great deal of supervised “doing” with immediate and useful feedback. Typically, for each subject or technique, the training is within the following process model: 1. instructor briefs students on the topic, 2. instructor demonstrates technique with student volunteer, 3. the demonstration is then broken down into steps, 4. students then practice the technique several times with one another under guidance of the instructor with ongoing feedback, 5. class debriefs about experience and technique with performance notes from instructor, 6. students continue advanced practice (including homework for some techniques), 7. final debriefing with instructor. The course focuses upon competence and application of material.

Please Note, participants may NOT use recording devices during the seminar. However, as is typical, the instructor may record the training. Participation in this seminar is considered explicit consent to be recorded on video, audio, and photograph. You must participate, wallflowers need not register.
