As many of you know, I teach the first half of the Advanced Hypnosis Theory course at the Hypnosis Practitioner Training Institute – HPTI – (www.HPTI.org) with Scott Sandland who does the capstone portion of the course to finish out the program. Additionally, I also teach the Critical Thinking course for the same program.
One thing I cover a LOT of is the theory of hypnosis and various studies that have looked into whatever in the world hypnosis really is (no, it ain’t roleplay as there are plenty of research studies that show something most definitely is going on at the neurological level . . . the truth is that state and non-state theories are both inadequate and a new hybrid understanding is coming into the forefront).
So, since I reference more studies than a human probably should, my students become a bit hypersensitive to the material and are more likely to notice when a new breakthrough in academic research comes out that has useful application in the clinic.
Well, here’s an intriguing radio interview about an Australian research program that uses hypnosis in order to induce delusions as a means to study delusions. The researchers reference studies that show categorically that hypnosis has neurological effect and is most definitely something real going on in the brain. You can listen to the program at http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/allinthemind/hypnotic-delusion/4373812 and there is a transcript available too.
Speaking of hypnosis, you can learn a whole slew of new techniques by checking out our video training programs in hypnosis which are in general release.
