Hypnosis is a rapidly growing practice that is used in different types of therapy sessions. New studies from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis are showing that Hypnosis for Anxiety is also a rapidly growing trend among those who seek healthy behavior correction and non-drug treatments for anxiety and pain.
It’s safe to assume that most people are familiar with the practice of hypnosis. However, most people are unaware that hypnosis can be used to help patients resolve a wide variety of different conditions that can negatively affect their lives.
According to the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the practice of hypnosis is defined as a state of inner absorptions, concentration, and focused attention. The practice has been rapidly growing since it first started being used in psychological practices in the early part of the 20th century.
Today, patients can contact a clinical hypnotherapist to assist with weight loss, addressing smoking habits, with many using hypnosis for anxiety. This isn’t just conjecture either. Numerous studies spotlight the benefits and positive results that hypnosis can help patients achieve. A study conducted on 27 children and adolescents with bone marrow aspiration and 22 children and adolescents undergoing lumbar punctures found that patients who underwent hypnosis before the procedure reported fewer incidents of pain and less anxiety than patients who did not undergo hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy can also help women who are experiencing hot flashes. A study published online in the journal, Menopause, compared the effects of five 45-minute sessions of therapeutic hypnosis with those of a placebo treatment. The multiple-week study found that the frequency of hot flashes in the hypnotherapy group dropped by as much as 48% in a six week period and 56% at the six and 12 week mark. When compared to the placebo group, only 7% experienced a drop in hot flashes at the six week mark and 13% at the six and 12 week mark.
Additionally, a measure of severity and frequency of hot flashes showed that on average 71% of the participants showed improvement in the hypnosis group. The placebo group only reported an 8% improvement.
In addition to addressing the recurrent problem of hot flashes, hypnotherapy also addresses issues faced by both genders; for example, the fear of going to the dentist.
For the millions of people who suffer from “dental anxiety” there is hope. Hypnosis for anxiety in Chicago and other U.S. cities can be used to assist a countless number of people who hate going to the dentists.
A study published in Contemporary Hypnosis was conducted on a patient in need of a tooth extraction. Prior to the patient’s dental procedure, the patient was suffering from higher than usual levels of anxiety. After the patient’s hypnotherapy sessions, the patient reported significantly less levels of anxiety.
As these examples indicate, hypnosis can help reduce levels of anxiety, help reduce pain, and help make patients make positive life changes.
