‘Magic’ hypnosis sends schoolboy to hospital

Please note, this is NOT hypnosis. Not at all.

An Emirati boy was admitted to hospital with fatigue and momentarily memory loss after his friend tried to hypnotize him by using what he dubbed as “magic hand” involving stopping the boy’s breath.

Some people see hyperventilation or sleeper methods online and assume they are related to hypnosis. There is even an old carotid-artery induction technique that is very dangerous and is sometimes taught by very irresponsible teachers as a legitimate hypnosis method (it is not, the unconscious person is presented as being deeply hypnotized but they are not).

This stuff is dangerous and people die doing it. There are safe methods that are very effective . . . I teach them.
