Have Hypnosis Fun with Kevin Pollak and Learn to Enter Hypnosis

Okay, now this is a LOT of fun.

Award-Winning Actor Kevin Pollak (http://www.kevinpollak.tv, http://www.youtube.com/user/kpo345, and http://kevinpollakschatshow.com) joined Freddie Wong (http://www.youtube.com/user/freddiew and http://facerocker.com) with amateur hypnotist Brian Firenzi (http://5secondfilms.com) for some fun hypnotically messing with Dan Johnson‘s head.

Dan is hypnotized but not told that Pollak is present so when he’s given different suggestions that he meets this or that celebrity, Pollak does impressions to make the scene feel real . . . for Pollak it’s a fun chance to engage in rapidfire spontaneous improvisation and for everyone else, it’s a lot of fun watching Dan’s reactions.

First, let’s take a look at the resulting video of the event:

HYPNOSIS FUN WITH KEVIN POLLAK

The special guest personalities are Jason Statham and Christopher Walken as Pollak interprets them. Evidently, Pollak also did a number of other personalities as they played but those were edited out in the final cut.

The video actually had been months in the making as the folks involved had been playing with Dan for some time with conditioning and other games in order to ensure his reliability as a hypnotic trance partner for the final day. You can see a bit of that in the tag of the after-interview between Kevin Pollak, Freddie Wong, and Brian Firensi here:

CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN POLLAK
with Hypnosis Highlights

Pollak was evidently most concerned that the hypnosis be genuine (as he felt the resulting video would be very lame otherwise). Nothing to fear as the hypnosis and Dan’s responses are indeed genuine.

The total length of the hypnosis session was about 40 minutes, so this video has been edited down for time and comedy (Brian doesn’t count down from 10 – they cut in at 3, for example). Pollak did additional bits as Columbo, William Shatner, and Daniel Craig that were cut for time. If you want to see the full session, let the filmmakers know on their original youtube page.

To clarify some points . . .

Brian and Freddie are not professional hypnotists – they both did it when we were in college with our friends for fun. See the archives on this blog for plenty of examples of young people exploring safe and fun interest in hypnosis for recreation and entertainment as well as for walkabout trance or street hypnosis. Many of my DVD training products at http://www.briandavidphillips.com are actually very appropriate for beginners.

Brian and Freddie discuss their experience with hypnosis in this video:

HOW TO HYPNOTIZE YOUR FRIENDS
with Brian Firenzi and Freddie Wong

Some other points they make based upon their personal experience and understanding and some notes about this particular session:

  • Hypnosis like you see in movies is totally fake
  • All it takes to hypnotize someone is to relax them and follow an induction script (try Googling one, or clicking above to see Brian’s)
  • Dan is hypnotized. Through monumental effort, we managed to keep Kevin Pollak’s appearance a complete secret to him, and when Kevin first stepped out, Dan didn’t break out of it.
  • We had some friends over to observe the hypnosis. That’s what the background laughter is.
  • Finally, one of the weird physical side effects of hypnosis that you can see in this video is if you look closely, his pupils are all dilated despite it being a well lit room. We have no idea why this happens, but it’s kind of cool.

Just to make sure we’re dotting all our t’s and crossing all out i’s I should point out that:

  • Not all hypnosis in the movies or in literature is fake, some of it is really dead on, but most does indeed stretch reality well past the breaking point.
  • Relaxation is NOT required to hypnotize someone, although a relaxation based induction is one of the most commonly used. See my webpages at http://www.briandavidphillips.com for valuable learning resources and explore this blog for more helpful posts, videos, scripts, and resources.
  • Dan is hypnotized. His behavior is very congruent with that of a person in experiential trance or somnambulism.
  • This sort of thing is always a lot more fun with guests . . . having a hypnotist and a few willing volunteers at a party is a great way to liven things up . . . especially, if you’re among friends and willing to give it a go!
  • The pupils dilate in deep trance, this is a trance marker. You will also notice increased lacrimation (tears) and a reddening of the eyes as the tearducts and blood vessels open through relaxation. This is perfectly normal and a good sign.

HYPNOSIS INDUCTION VIDEO
Unedited Sequence with Brian Firenzi

This content is for members only.

This is a pretty straightforward relaxation-based hypnosis induction. Note that Brian had no formal training but his induction still works with most folks. Contrary to the beliefs of some, hypnosis is not based upon superior willpower or supernatural ability or arcane occult knowledge nor is it rocket science. It is both a craft and an art so obviously there are some who are more gifted than others and others who are more skilled but the kernel concepts can be learned fairly quickly once one has been exposed to then. Obviously, solid training materials accelerates your mastery.

In fact, if you head over to my webpages at http://www.briandavidphillips.com, you will find all sorts or resources for learning how to do this and so very much more. Don’t forget to explore the rest of this blog too. 🙂

All the best,
Brian
