So, let’s say you’re looking for an induction that is very effective, highly reliable, and visually interesting for a small to medium sized stage hypnosis show but you also need it to be fast . . . so you can get right into the mud and fun of the show without mucking about with a long drawn out patter-heavy induction that sucks time away from your gags and comedy fun . . . so . . . what are some options?

Actually, there are a number of options available to the competent hypnotist entertainer and one very solid induction to consider is the Group Handclasp Induction. It’s a very effective speed hypnosis induction in and of itself and it works great with groups and actually is very very visual.

For my own shows, I like to mix things up but I often go back to the group handclasp induction as it’s fast, visual, and effective and highly entertaining for the spectators.

Last month, I did a small show at the Comedy Club (honestly, all of my shows at the Comedy Club could be considered small as the stage area isn’t really large enough for very many shows . . . which is perfectly fine with me as Pat Collins made a career out of doing shows with six volunteers maximum . . . sure folks like Martin St. James may have as many as fifty chairs or more on stage for the big auditorium shows but the folks who can do a strong fun show with just a handful of volunteers are the ones who are really showing their hypnotic chops have what it takes . . . seriously, there are folks who can’t do a show for less than one hundred people in the audience but the ones who are trained in solid techniques – the sort of thing I teach – are the ones who can really do genuine stage hypnosis, their the ones for whom an audience of twenty-five, fifteen, or even ten is not a problem . . . they’re the ones who can walk up to a stranger on the street and perform street hypnosis, the real deal . . . these are the real hypnotists . . . and those are the sort of skills I cover in my own trainings).

Well . . . anyhoo . . . I find the group handclasp works really well for fifteen or fewer volunteers (any more than that and you run the risk of folks tiring and losing concentration as they wait for you to get around to ’em). Here’s the induction from my most recent Comedy Club show . . . seriously, this IS the full induction. Folks come up out of the audience to volunteer and sit themselves in the chairs and this is what I go with . . . notice just how long it takes . . . we’re NOT talking about a forty-five minute as some folks use or even twenty minutes as many or even what is considered a short stage induction of the ten minutes many Las Vegas hypnotists use . . . in fact, this particular

Seriously, notice that this youtube video of the entire induction along with the setup patter and deepening is just a bit over two and a half minutes and that’s including the opening credits, the end credits, and the pre-post talks . . . this is not an induction for folks who are into taking their time and droning on about it. The meat of this induction with this group is about one minute from start to finish. You have to be on point for this sort of work . . . at least for this part of the show.
