Massive Tons of 3D Goodness Coming to Your Home in 2010 from Sony

Sony has officially announced that in 2010 they will be rolling out a whole bunch of products related to 3D for the home.

BRAVIA LCD HDTVs, VAIO machines, PlayStation 3, and Bluray discs are all set for 3D implementations to hit the market and while it's not stated in the press release, we can clearly see a CyberShot digital camera in the promotional video.

It is not clear yet if all of the product lines will get their 3D home versions out in 2010 of if they are just starting at that time. However, they will at least kick off with the Bravia lineup and since there are already a couple games in the pipe that have 3D compatibility, it seems likely we will see the PS3 vamp and perhaps the Bluray.

Actually, the mass market 3D initiative has already begun . . . just started by other companies so Sony is late to the game but they do seem ready to use a shock and awe strategy to overwhelm the competition with more offerings . . . a good thing as more products means more penetration.

Fuji already has a 3D digital camera on the market (I own the Fujifilm Real 3D W1 and love it) so my guess is that Sony is watching how the Fuji camera does as it finalizes its own 3D digital camera. Acer already has a 3D notebook on the street in some markets (oddly, we don't yet have the Aspire 3D here in Taiwan which saddens me as I was going to snarf one up right away) and Asus is rolling out two 3D notebook computers soon so I would imagine Sony would act quickly to get its solution out as mass product (the other companies have not been aggressive in their marketing and have used a "testing the waters" strategy).

All the best,
Brian
