As most regular readers of the Life of Brian blog (http://briandavidphillips.net/) know, I have an intense interest in experiential hypnosis and positive emotional flood states, particularly guiding a trance partner into such wonderfully positive emotional states as ecstasy, bliss, erotic response, and love (see my Engineering eXperiential Ecstasy DVD set - http://www.briandavidphillips.net/store - and my upcoming course in Erotic Hypnosis - http://briandavidphillips.net/category/eroticatrance/ - for more as well as a whole slew of posts on the subject in my blog – in fact, I've been posting a LOT of videos on this very subject in the past couple months and have even more in the pipeline all ready to post, at least one new one every day for the next month or so).
Hugh Cole posted a headsup on an absolutely fascinating project undertaken by photographer

http://www.joelelfman.com). Seckler put out a call for folks who wished to have an amazing unique photo taken of themselves.
The result of this collaboration is
THE TRUE LOVE PROJECT (
http://thetrueloveproject.com) and while the portrait images in the project are absolutely beautiful in and of themselves, you really want to explore the discussions along with the images and see what was going through each person's mind as these simply beautifully breathtaking images were snapped.
Basically, Elfman worked with the volunteers and hypnotized them so that as they looked into the camera's lens each trance partner experienced true love. Hypnosis, as regular readers of my blog know, is a wonderful tool for enhancing emotional response, particularly when one has guided a trance partner into genuine experiential trance. While amateur photographers for a couple centuries have coaxed folks into a sleight smile, an approximation of seeming happiness, by having subjects photographed say "cheese" as the shutter fires, a hypnotist can guide a person into genuine happiness, genuine intensly ecstatic emotional states, true emotional flood states (see the various videos I've been posting of late) . . . and that's what Elfman did. He suggested that as the trance partner volunteers looked into the camera they experienced TRUE LOVE with capital letters all throughout as this is no approximating "cheese" but the Real Thing that is eXperienced . . . as so many studies with active MRI scans have shown, when in experiential trance, experiential hypnosis, what is suggested is experienced as real as the real thing. Once the volunteer was experiencing those genuine flooded emotional true love states, Seckler snapped his shutter and captured truely amazing photographs. Don't take my word for it, go and see for yourself.
Wow.
In all honesty . . . given all the video I have online and the work I have done that is not online or even that which hasn't been captured at all . . . I am both happy to see that Seckler and Elfman have put together a truely unique and wonderful project and jealous that I didn't think to do it first. Actually, when I saw Robbie Cooper's video project (
http://briandavidphillips.net/2009/06/the-joys-of-the-orgasmic-face-the-immerision-project.html), I considered doing something similar with hypnotic ecstasy or positive emotional flood states . . . but . . . Seckler and Elfman beat me to it of sorts and their results are absolutely worth seeing.
Joel Elfman told me via email that they are looking to do a phase two of The True Love Project and so if you're in their neck of the woods and would like to give it a go, drop 'em a line. Here's Seckler's call for participants:
"I’m looking for volunteers of all ages, race, and sex to photograph for a second edition of the TRUE LOVE project. Please visit this website to see what more about the project: <http://thetrueloveproject.com>. All volunteers are welcome to participate but I am also specifically interested in finding older volunteers (65+) and younger volunteers (9-19 years old). Joel Elfman, a professional hypnotist, (www.joelelfman.com) will be on site at a NYC studio and subjects will be briefly hypnotized and then photographed while in a state of hypnosis. While hypnotized subjects will be asked to visualize a person they love. I will then take photographs of subjects while they’re visualizing that person. The point is to show an unguarded portrait of human love. This project will be done in a highly professional manner with the utmost respect for participants. I want subjects to feel very comfortable being a part of this project and am happy to answer any questions you may have over email or telephone before the shoot. You’re also welcome to bring a friend or two for company during the actual shoot. The portrait session will be brief. You’ll only need to set aside about an hour of time. In exchange for your participation you’ll receive a high-resolution copy of your portrait. To be considered for this project please send two or more photos of yourself to zs@zackseckler.com. The photos don’t have to be professional quality but they should clearly show your face."
