We've gone this route before but . . . the clips I posted had some audio problems or other messiness involved . . . so, here we go again with some audio corrections and more voodoo hypnosis goodness.
Most folks reading this blog are well aware of the idea of VOODOO, albeit most are also not aware of the belief system behind it. However, for our purposes, to play with VOODOO HYPNOSIS, we need only understand the most basic idea . . . and that is the idea of a person being entranced to the point that whatever happens to the makeshift voodoo doll, happens to the person.
For metaphysical work, it is ideal that the intended subject – whether for good or ill – be aware of the suggestion (many of the various hypnosis groups I belong to have recently had a flood of reposts of a newspaper article on the nocebo effect which contains some discussion of voodoo in the guise of negative effect suggestions). Most folks are aware of the positive effects of placebo but should also understand that nocebo is alive and well.
Every once in awhile, I will pull out a doll for some interesting experiments in deep trance identification. Here's just such an experimental demonstration filmed 8 June 2009 in Keelung, Taiwan (the clip is from a series I made while filming an upcoming educational DVD project on EXOTIC HYPNOSIS INDUCTIONS with explanations and demonstrations of various unusual or rare hypnosis processes – no, it's not out yet, still in production but it will be at http://www.briandavidphillips.net/store when it's finally released, although there's plenty of good stuff there now).
Note that I use the doll as a trance identification doll at first in which the trance partner is drawn in imaginatively to connect to the object and experience what the doll experiences. Then, through the use of simple mime, the doll seems to sleep and so the trance partner enters into hypnotic "sleep" (no, not genuine sleep but the passivity of the conscious mind as a doorway into intensified imaginative involvement of suggestions that bypass the critical factor of the conscious mind).

For entertainment purposes, the voodoo doll makes a interesting addition to a stage hypnosis show. Here's a clip of one of my recent shows (29 May 2009 at the Comedy Club in Taipei, Taiwan) with my own "voodoo doll" being used for suggestions.
Obviously, you can very likely imagine a number of contexts in which someone could use this sort of setup. Certainly as a comedy or recreational process it has many applications.
