Second-Hand Smoke Linked to DEMENTIA

Scientists have known for some time that smokers are at higher risk of developing Dementia in their old age, but now a major study shows a very clear link between second-hand smoke and dementia developing.  See a recent news piece, "second hand smoke linked to dementia" for more information.

A study published in the British Medical Journal found a 44% increase in the chance of developing dementia when exposed to second-hand smoke.  Obviously, smokers have a higher risk.

One part of the Belfast article I found interesting was the odd advice that “Given that passive smoking is also linked to other serious health problems
such as heart disease and stroke, smokers should avoid lighting up near
non-smokers.”
Excuse me, while I agree with the sentiment, I would think that the better advice would be for smokers to not light up at all.

Of course, now that smoking is prohibited in most public places in Taiwan (we still have to see how well the law is enforced), as well as more and more countries, we should see an increase in people stopping smoking and fewer folks taking it up in the first place.  Should . . . we have to see after a bit how it plays out.

Folks who are wanting to give up smoking have more alternatives open to them.  Hypnosis has been shown to be one of the more effective methods to help folks give up smoking.  It's not perfect by far, but it does a heck of a lot better than other methods.

See my webpages at http://www.briandavidphillips.com for more information on hypnosis as well as audio CDs to help folks give up the habit.  You can also schedule live hypnotherapy sessions.

All the best,
Brian
