DCCCafe Weely reports that Gates sees the future in 3D and gush about his vision of the possibility for virtual reality walk throughs that go way beyond what Google Earth’s current system has. However, while Gates is quoted as gush-gush-gushing big time about the future no longer being flat displays but virtual reality 3D, it isn’t clear if he means real true stereoscopic 3D, the good stuff, or the sloppy 2 1/2 D that game developers have been calling 3D for some time, the false perspective version that doesn’t give true depth. Hopefully, given the current pushes in camera, video, and film . . . hopefully, he means the real thing. BTW, Happy Birthday Mr. Gates.
