Hypnocast . . . audio weirdness

A few folks have emailed with comments and problems with the Brian David Phillips Hypnocast audioblog podcast . . . I appreciate the feedback.

For those experiencing strange pauses in the audio, please make certain it’s not an intended pause or silence in the piece . . . there are a few pauses in the pieces specifically to allow folks to unconsciously run the processes.

You should also check and make sure you have downloaded the full file before pressing play. Some folks who are playing the files as streaming downloads are experiencing some problems with the buffering system on their machines. So, don’t play the files streaming . . . instead, make sure the full files are downloaded before you load them into your player.

One person noticed “warbling” in the background, that is likely the binaural beat that is encoded into the background music. The trance session parts of the hypnocasts are intended to be listened to in stereo (usually with headphones) as each ear has a different frequency being played into it in the background which theoretically aids what is known as an “entrainment” effect that helps to lead a person into deeper trance.

Some folks swear by this sort of entrainment technology but the studies are not quite as conclusive as they claim . . . however, many people do find some benefit so I do include a theta-delt-theta cycle mix in the files.

When I created the files, I used a bit rate that let me keep relative quality as well as would allow me to upload more files into the libsyn quota (allowing me to do a weekly hypnocast instead of once a month). As I am providing the hypnocasts free to folks, I feel I am paying enough for the libsyn account for what is essentially a gratis service to the listening audience at this time. I do NOT intend to ever charge for the hypnocasts and I do intend to keep it up so I wish to manage resources a bit more effectively in terms of space allotments and the like. Some podcasters are removing old podcasts from their archives but I wish to keep things up and moving (a benefit with the libsyn system over some of the other providers).

If you are certain that the files are complete and you are still experiencing difficulty with the files, please let me know the nature of the complaint (other than hearing Mr. Raspy Voice breathing a bit too heavily into the mic at times, I managed to find that myself and will endeavor to correct it with the next set I do after the current group of files are cast; I’ll also use a different setting for maximize levels as well to cut out some of the interference).

You can keep up to date on things on the podcasting, audioblogging, hypnocasting front by watching for new posts here.

I hope you are enjoying the files and fine them informative as well as useful.

All the best,
Brian
