Gender and Gaming

Was looking for some references to Live Action Roleplaying and Freeforms (interactive dramas of the type I wrote my doctoral dissertation on) and stumbled across badgerbag’s gender and gaming. While I will agree that many within the gaming community are unaware that there may be a problem regarding sexism in gaming, I would note that it has been discussed many times before. I know this is so as I’ve discussed it. Back in August 2001, I wrote an essay for The LARPer on
Sex and the Interactive Drama: Issues of Consent and Harrassment which I still get occassional emails on (albeit, a number of folks did disagree with certain of my points and a few have pointed out very workable alternative approaches, albeit the main theses still stands).
